![]() It's very civilized but most definitely enhances the sound. The Akro with baffle in is not loud at all. I own an XSR900 with the Akro Titanium and have had my ECU flashed. Much of it comes down to the average motorcyclist wanting a turn-key solution rather than hooking their bike up to a computer and spending dozens of hours trying to figure things out themselves. Some may be the license for the tuner to flash ECUs. Some of what you're paying for is the R&D on the part of the tuner. Woolich (and potentially others) have also added other features into their flash, like auto-blip (raises RPM to allow clutchless downshifts in addition to upshifts), launch control, etc etc. There are also other elements in the software.2017 introduces factory support for a quickshifter which can be added to the 2016 and earlier by flashing. ![]() Those maps are tweaked and designed by the tuners themselves based on what they have found to work. Generally there are fueling maps that control how much air-fuel mixture are delivered at different amounts of throttle and RPM ranges, in the different gears (very simplified explanation). The 'tune' in the ECU comprises a few different things. I certainly dont have any desire to provide a flash service though.dont have a dyno for starters I've found the software but what cable would I need and would I then be missing a flash file or something. * It seems you can get the software and do it yourself with a cable. I've found a couple of places in Australia that want around five hundred fricken bucks and if it's as easy as flashing a PC BIOS I aint paying that * If an ECU flash is required, are there any places in Australia people recommend? I've seen VCyclenut does it for $80 in US. * Are flashes mod specific? Eg I have a certain exhaust fitted and there's a flash that caters to that config? Is this option because not everyone can get the bike to a dyno? Is this the real answer and would this apply with DBK in as well as out? * Does the Akrapovic Titanium for 2017 MT09 on the Yamaha web site require an ECU flash for reasons of reliability first, performance second? Akrapovic says no. I'll just cut to the chase and ask the questions I am still trying to find answers for: ![]() I'm not sure what TWO's definition of "open system" is. He said in the video that the stock flash is that good it's only really needed if you run an "open system" then you would want to richen it up. Most of the information getting around seems to be model prior to the 2017 year model which apparently needs it for other reasons and it wasn't until I found one of TwoWheelObsession's videos on the topic I didn't realise how drastically different the ECU is from 2017 onwards.
